Welcome to Jeff's SHO-MFO Page. Thank you for visiting my site!! I hope you enjoy the awesome sight of an SHO as much as I do. I know my girlfriend, the lovely Mary Grace Brien does! She drives a SAAB. Check her and I out. What a pair, huh?

What follows is a Web page dedicated to the Ford Taurus SHO. What is a SHO ? The SHO is arguably the finest performance sedan of the 1990's. The letters SHO stand for Super High Output and anyone who has ever driven a SHO knows what that means. It means this baby puts out some serious rpm's!!! For those who still don't know what it is, I recommend you click on the link below and check out Ford's official page on the matter!

In this page, I hope to cover the basic facts of the SHO, my experience with my own SHO, some photos of the SHO in the wild, as well as provide links to my favorite SHO sites, of which there are many!!!

Let me start off by telling you all a bit about my car, it's history, the benefits as well as it's shortcomings. I bought my car in February of 1998. It's a black, five-speed, 1993, fully loaded Ford Taurus SHO. It was love at first site. Though I considered the white one, I went with the black and I have not looked back.

The SHO was first introduced in 1989 by Ford. It offered all the quality of a Taurus plus a few little extras including a manual transmission, performance quality handling, leather interior, and of course, a 225 horsepower Super High Output motor specifically designed by Yamaha for Ford. Though only a V-6, the SHO truly lives up to it's name and propells the somewhat portly Taurus body to 60mph in less than 7 seconds. Top speed is an impressive 140 miles per hour, and the SHO has an amazing capacity for high RPM' and does not redline until 7000rpms!!! That is hauling some serious groceries....Below are photos of the motor that makes it all possible. Yes, the photos are big but so is the motor and I feel it really adds to the effect.

Though there have been three different series of the SHO, series 1 and series 2 were by and large the same with only cosmetic differences. The only real difference was that an automatic transmission became available in 1992 with the beginning of Series 2. My car is from series 2 and most SHO enthusiasts consider 1993, 1994, and 1995 to be the best years for the SHO. Things changed dramaticlly in 1996, as Ford changed not only the Taurus but the SHO as well. Gone was the classic muscle car look. Gone was the V6 as well. Ford introduced a new body design, a new V8 motor, and took away what made the SHO great to start with: the 5 speed manual transmission which was replaced with a silky smooth automatic. Though certainly a nice car, the new SHO's proved only one thing: that the fun was gone.

We will, we will..ROCK YOU!!

Below is a photo of the new Series 3 SHO as well as it's V8 motor. I, like most fans of the SHO, dislike this body-style in favor of the more muscle-bound appearance of both Series 1 and 2.

I must say that my 1993 SHO has been the best car I have ever owned. Generally speaking, the SHO is a bargain in price with a surplus of performance. I paid $7,200 in 1998 for a mint 93 SHO with only 79,000 miles on it.

By and large, I have had no major problems with the car. I did have to replace plugs and wires to the tune of $300!!! I was shocked to find out that
